Dear students,
as you might have heard "Game Development in C#" will be split into two
separate courses - a lecture and a lab course.
========== Game Development (Lecture, 6 CP) ==========
07/04/22 - 14/07/22, first meeting on 07/04 at 14:15 in HZO 50
The previous course has been expanded into a full lecture spanning the
entire semester. You will learn fundamental concepts of game development
and implement them with the Unity engine.
The entire course is very practice-oriented. Instead of having a final
exam, you will be working on multiple projects over the course of the
semester. In weekly meetings we will discuss the learned concepts and
see examples of how they are used in popular games.
There is no limit on the number of participants anymore. If you're
interested, you can already enroll in Moodle:
https://moodle.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/course/view.php?id=40282
There's not much there yet, but any further announcements will be made
within the course. You can also see a preliminary schedule with all of
the planned content if you want to know what to expect.

========== Game Development (Lab Course, 3 CP, 20-30 participants)
==========
01/08/22 - 12/08/22, one additional presentation date 1-2 weeks later
This is basically a follow-up to the lecture. You'll learn how to
develop your own game concept from the ground up and implement it with
the Unity engine. The projects will be developed in groups of 1-2
students and presented to the other participants, who will be able to
play and discuss them together.
The course is directed at students of Angewandte Informatik and can be
used as your "Programmierpraktikum". Master students can also get credit
as a "Freies Wahlmodul". Be aware that basic to intermediate experience
with the Unity engine is mandatory, since the course is designed to be
taken directly after hearing the lecture.

If you have any questions regarding either of these courses, you can
write a mail to daniel.vonk at ini.rub.de or post in the forum of the
Moodle course.
Cheers,
Daniel
