Liebe Studierende,

im Rahmen der letzten Vorlesung „Einführung in die Kryptographie 2" des 
laufenden Semesters werden wir uns als Max-Planck-Institut für 
Sicherheit und Privatsphäre (MPI-SP) vorstellen, Einblicke in unsere 
Forschung geben und Möglichkeiten für gemeinsame Projekte (z.B. im 
Rahmen von Abschlussarbeiten oder Werkstudierendentätigkeiten) 
präsentieren. Die meisten Forschungsgruppen werden sich einzeln 
vorstellen und stehen dann für Rückfragen zur Verfügung. Abseits davon 
geben Ihnen die Vorträge einen Überblick über die erstaunlich große 
Diversität des Gebietes der IT-Security und könnten Ihnen für Ihren 
späteren Werdegang als Orientierung dienen, auch abseits der Forschung. 
Wir freuen uns, wenn Sie zahlreich erscheinen.

Das MPI-SP ist ein relativ neues Forschungsinstitut im Bereich 
IT-Sicherheit in Bochum und sitzt direkt neben der Fakultät für 
Informatik in den Gebäuden MC und MB auf dem Campus der RUB. Einige von 
Ihnen dürften uns schon aus der Lehre kennen, hauptsächlich sind wir 
allerdings in der Forschung aktiv. Wir sind ein internationales 
Institut, welches sich das Ziel gesetzt hat, weltweit anerkannte 
Spitzenforschung zu betreiben. Als Max-Planck-Institut beschäftigen wir 
uns dabei vor allem mit den technischen sowie den interdisziplinären 
Aspekten von IT-Sicherheit und Privatsphäre.

Wir sind ständig auf der Suche nach exzellenten Studierenden der 
Informatik und IT-Sicherheit. Dabei bieten wir die Möglichkeit, sich als 
Teil unserer internationalen Teams aktiv in laufende Forschungsprojekte 
einzubringen.

Wir freuen uns, Ihnen am 19.07. um 12 Uhr noch ein wenig mehr zu uns 
erzählen zu können.

Dear Students,

As part of the last lecture "Introduction to Cryptography 2" of the 
current semester, we will introduce ourselves as the Max Planck 
Institute for Security and Privacy (MPI-SP), provide insights into our 
research as well as present opportunities for joint projects (e.g. as 
part of final theses or working student activities). Almost all of our 
research groups will introduce themselves individually and will then be 
available to answer your questions. Apart from that, the presentations 
will give you an overview of the surprisingly large diversity of the 
field of IT security and could serve as orientation for your future 
career, even outside of research. We look forward to seeing many of you 
there.

MPI-SP is a relatively new research institute in the field of IT 
security in Bochum and is located next to the Faculty of Computer 
Science in the MC and MB buildings on RUB campus. Some of you may 
already know us from teaching, but we are mainly active in research. We 
are an international institute that has set itself the goal of 
conducting world-renowned cutting-edge research. As a Max Planck 
Institute, we are primarily concerned with foundational research and the 
interdisciplinary aspects of IT security and privacy.

We are always on the lookout for excellent students of IT security and 
computer science and offer you the opportunity to actively participate 
in ongoing research projects as part of our international teams.
