Second announcement for the GeoMod2004 conference "From Mountains to
Sedimentary Basins: Modelling and Testing Geological Processes"

Emmetten (Lake Lucerne), Switzerland
June 9-11, 2004

Dear all,

This is the second announcement and Call for Abstracts for the GeoMod2004
international conference. GeoMod2004 is unique in its aim of bringing
together geoscientists from universities and industry who deal with analogue
and/or numerical models. The meeting will cover the following main topics:

1. Surface Processes
2. Orogenesis
3. Sedimentary Basins
4. Fractures, Faults and Fluid Flow
5. Geological Predictions
6. Methods and Techniques

We particularly encourage contributions in which modelling results are
tested against real-world case studies, or compared with results from other
model studies. The number of participants is limited to 150.

Of special interest to you may be the pre-conference workshop with an
analogue and numerical benchmark test, which will be held on June 8, 2004.
We would like to encourage numerical modellers to perform (scaled)
experiments of the same set-up used for the analogue 'benchmark'. We hope
that this will test the ability of the two techniques to predict the same
results. Please see the attached document for a full description of the
set-ups.

To ensure the widest possible distribution of contributions, participants
are invited to submit extended abstracts (max. 4 pages) which will be
published in a special issue of the international journal Bollettino di
Geofisica.
