At TU Delft, The Netherlands, there is a vacancy for a 3-year Postdoc on

" Improvement of Regional Glacial Isostasy Models with GOCE "

Project description:

The project aims to couple interactively a regional (flat) 3D
  high-resolution finite-element model to a 3D thermomechanical
ice-sheet model that includes ice shelves. The focus of the
application of this model will be on Northern Europe because of
the availability of high-quality GPS and sea-level data.
Mantle properties in this region are to be partly derived from
available rock samples. Gravity field predictions will be sensitive
to relatively shallow earth properties, and are therefore expected
to excite those high spherical harmonics that will become detectable
by GOCE, ESAs gravity satellite mission to be launched early in 2008
  (www.esa.int/esaLP/LPgoce.html).

Hence, the project should provide additional constraints on properties
of the shallow earth and improve estimates of present-day sea level
change in Northern Europe. This project will be done in close
collaboration with the Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research
Utrecht (IMAU) and the Structural Geology and Tectonics group of the
  Institute for Earth Sciences Utrecht.

Applications deadline is Sep 15; expected start of the project November.
