Zusammenfassung:

Modern operating system have to face to an increased demand of security, due to the variety of application and services that computers run and access. 

Designing security services at OS level, is not a trivial task. Developers have to find a synthesis among required features, in order to design robust and simple services suitable as "building blocks" for application level security.

As sample of these building blocks, in this seminar we survey the design and the implementation of some OS-level security services developed for the Linux Operating System, motivating their collocation into the Kernel.

In particular, we shall introduce:
 - The Transparent Cryptographic File System
 - The WLF Code-signing infrastructure, purposed to prevent the execution of malicious code
 - SmartK, a kernel level framework for card-aware kernel modules.
