Invitation to the Hardware Reverse Engineering Workshop (HARRIS) 2024

>From March 19 to 20, 2024, the Cluster of Excellence CASA - Cyber Security in the Age of Large-Scale Adversaries and the Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy (MPI-SP) are hosting the Hardware Reverse Engineering Community for the second time at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany.

Recap of HARRIS 2023
Last year, the workshop brought together over 90 participants from academia, industry, and government in Bochum. With a groundbreaking keynote by Olivier Thomas, the founder and CTO of Texplained, and a diverse program featuring 20 presentations, numerous practical demonstrations, and interactive networking formats, HARRIS 2023 was a resounding success. This success was also due to the uniqueness of the workshop, as Prof. Dr. Christof Paar, Director of the MPI-SP and spokesperson for the Cluster of Excellence CASA, points out:
"HARRIS 2023 was the first-ever workshop dedicated to the important topic of hardware reverse engineering. It was an overwhelming success. We had close to 100 international participants from industry, academia and government. There was a strong desire by all actors to continue with the workshop. Therefore, we expect even more participants this year."
A summary of the abstracts of the presentations can be found here<https://harris2023.mpi-sp.org/event/>.

Professional Exchange and Networking at HARRIS 2024
This year, CASA and MPI-SP continue their goal of fostering collaboration and initiating new research partnerships among participants. The workshop focuses on open discussions about challenges, hurdles, and potential solutions in the field of hardware reverse engineering. Participants will engage in topics such as sample preparation, imaging, netlist reconstruction and analysis, FPGA reverse engineering, obfuscation, and hardware assurance. Up to 150 participants from industry, academia, and government are invited to participate in interactive sessions and contribute to shaping the event. The program includes 15 to 20 presentations, brainstorming sessions, technical discussions, and plenty of opportunities for networking during speed-dating and the workshop dinner.
