Dear students,

due to the success of last year's course, Game Development will be held
again as a full lecture this year. During the semester you will learn
fundamental concepts of game development and implement them with the
Unity engine in groups of 1-3 students. The course is credited with 6 CP
and can be taken by Bachelor students as a 'Vertiefungsmodul' and by
Master students as a 'Freies Wahlmodul'.

The entire course is very practice-oriented. Instead of having a final
exam, you will be working on multiple projects over the course of the
semester. In weekly meetings we will discuss the learned concepts and
see examples of how they are used in popular games.

Topics include, among many others:
* Gameplay scripting (moving characters, controlling the camera,
designing game loops)
* Physics (moving rigidbodies, collider, trigger)
* Assets (sprites, 3D models, creating animations)
* Graphics (textures, particle effects, lighting, post-processing)
* Level design (tilemaps, 3D environments, terrains)

The first meeting will be held on April 6th at 14:15 in HZO 50. There is
no limit on the number of participants. If you're interested, you can
already enroll in the Moodle course:
https://moodle.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/course/view.php?id=50381
There's not much there yet, but any further announcements will be made
within the course.

If you have any questions, you can write a mail to
daniel.vonk at ini.rub.de or post in the forum of the Moodle course.

Cheers,
Daniel
