Dear colleagues,

We invite abstracts for talks and posters for the third International
Geoqus Workshop in Potsdam, Germany from 21.-23. August 2012. Geoqus
is an open user group of geoscientist who employ the commercial finite
element software Abaqus for any geoscientific application. The user
group addresses mainly academic users of universities and other
scientific research institutes around the globe, but also industry
that work in geomechanical reservoir characterization.

Focus of the 2.5 day conference is the usage Abaqus in geomechanical-
numerical modelling of lithosphere deformation and dynamics. Besides
the scientific results of the model also the technical implementation
into Abaqus (boundary conditions, loads, forces, physical properties,
usage of subroutines etc.) are of particular interest and should be
integrated into the presentation. Thus, the conference is addressed
to experienced users of Abaqus rather than pure beginners.

Confirmed key note speakers are:
Harvey Goodman (Chevron, Houston, USA)
Tobias Hergert (KIT, Germany)
Björn Lund (Univ. Uppsala, Sweden)
Maria-Katerina Nikolinakou (Univ. of Austin, Texas, USA)
Jens Nüchter (Univ. of Bochum, Germany)
Wouter van der Zee (Baker Hughes, The Netherlands)

The conference venue is the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences
in Potsdam near Berlin (Germany). It is funded by Task Force VII of the
International Lithosphere Program (http://sclilp.gfz-potsdam.de/).
For further details for abstract submission and registration please visit
the Geoqus website at: http://www.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/geoqus/

Please note that we shifted the deadline for abstract submission to
June 11th due to the Pentecoast holidays in some countries.

We are looking forward seeing you in Potsdam.
Best regards

Oliver Heidbach
