[Geoqus] PhD position @ GFZ Potsdam on stress field modelling

Dear colleges,

in the attachment you will an announcement for a PhD position at the 
German Research Centre of Geosciences GFZ Potsdam related to the newly 
started site selection process in Germany for a geological repository 
for high-level radioactive waste. A key safety factor in this process is 
the quantification of the 3D stress field to assess the distance to 
failure of pre-existing faults or the generation of new fractures due to 
natural (e.g. earthquakes, glaciation) and man-made loads (e.g. 
excavation, heat generation).

The PhD position is part of the BMWi project SpannEnD (Stress Field 
Germany) which is a collaboration with the Karlsruhe Institute of 
Technology KIT and the Technical University of Darmstadt. The position 
is linked to two complementary PhD positions at these partner 
institutions. Furthermore, the project will be linked to a larger 
national project in that newly evolving research field.
