Cryptography has become one of the main tools for providing secure
IT applications, involving privacy, trust, access control and
secure electronic communication. The rapid developments in IT and
communication systems have driven the need to integrate
high-strength encryption on an ever increasing variety of platforms,
often with real-time requirements. Cryptography is typically a
computationally intensive process and due to performance, power
and cost requirements, system-on-chip (SoC) solutions involving
both hardware and software have emerged as viable platforms. A key
consideration is the mapping of complex mathematical operations
onto efficient SoC platforms to meet speed, area and power
considerations.

This special issue will consist of papers on Cryptographic Algorithms
and
Architectures for System-on-Chip. Areas of interest include, but are
not
limited to the following:

* System-on-Chip architectures for private key cryptographic algorithms
* System-on-Chip architectures for public key cryptographic algorithms
* Reconfigurable computing in cryptography
* Cryptographic processors and co-processors
* Cryptography for wireless and ad-hoc wireless applications
* Smart card architectures
* Hardware architectures for cryptanalysis

All submitted papers will be subject to the IEE Proceedings stringent
refereeing procedures. Prospective authors may contact the guest editors
for further information.

Further guidance for authors can be obtained at
