Call for Papers:

Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) promise flexible process
integration in heterogeneous environments. Existing SOA development
approaches tend to focus on enterprise application integration
scenarios rather than on business-to-business (B2B) scenarios,
although due to the increasing heterogeneity of applications in an
inter-organizational context, the most signicant benefits in terms of
competitiveness and cost reduction can be expected from implementing
SOAs for B2B integration. In such scenarios the processes involve both
invoking business services provided by different organizations, e.g.,
in supply chain management and operation, and accessing horizontal
shared services, e.g., run-time support for searching and selecting
business services based on their SLAs in dynamic orchestration.
Inter-organization orchestrations of business processes typically
include the statement and enforcement of security and privacy policies
involving selective encryption and signatures of data-in-transit. Key
issues in this context are efficiency and interoperability of SOA
systems, and especially the bearing of security mechanisms on this
properties. This motivates a research effort for improving security
and performance at the inter-organizationinterfaces of SOAs.

With this in mind, the target of this workshop is to bring together
researchers and industry practitioners that are engaged in all kinds
of interoperability and efficiency issues related to SOA critical
aspects, such as security, reliability and dependability. It is
intended to be a forum for presenting and exchanging new ideas,
discussing problems with existing specifications and exploring new
fields in these areas.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:

     * Performance of Web Services security and dependability solutions
     * Low-overhead security for Web Service compositions and business
processes
     * Streaming-based processing of Web Services data
     * Efficient authentication and authorization for Web Services
     * Cryptographic support for secure low-overhead Web-Service-based
communication
     * Software architectures for efficient SOA applications

Paper Submission:

Authors are invited to submit regular papers (8 pages), short papers
(4 pages), and demo papers (2 pages) of double column text using
single spaced 10 point size on 8.5 x 11 inch pages, as per IEEE 8.5 x
11 manuscript guidelines. Paper template in word format can be found at

Authors should submit a Word or PDF files using the online submission
and review system available at the official workshop web site (to be
published by 2/22). The accepted papers will be published in the
proceedings of the SERVICES 2009 by the IEEE Computer Society Press
and will be made available online through the IEEE Digital Library.
